Injuries and violence: the facts
injuries June 26th. 2023, 6:41amAbout 5 million people die from injuries and violence each year. Many of them are young and poor. In addition to these deaths, many millions of people suffer non-fatal injuries, often requiring extensive treatment and long-term rehabilitation. A number of effective and affordable solutions exist to tackle injuries and violence, WHO works with governments and partners to reduce injuries through a number of mechanisms – addressing environmental factors, improving legislation and enforcement, modifying behaviour, and by ensuring access to timely care.
